1.5 - Going live to the app

Your sampling strategy is designed; now it’s time to make it live! This step pushes your sampling plan from the dashboard to the Mozaic Earth Mobile App, allowing your field teams to see their checkpoints and begin data collection.

1.5.1 - Activate Checkpoints

  1. Toggle to the Collection tab on the top right corner of the Setup page.

  2. Select the plan you wish to make live (e.g. Habitats 2026).

  3. You can activate the entire plan at once or break it into smaller "sections" of work with different collection periods.

  4. Select the checkpoints you wish to activate

    • Select All: Press Ctrl + A to select all checkpoints

    • Box Select: Hold Ctrl and drag a box around a specific group of points.

  5. Click “Activate” in the bottom toolbar.

  6. Click “+ Add period”

  7. In the pop-up window, name your sampling period and select the dates. Choosing the right window is vital for ecological accuracy:

How to activate checkpoints

1.5.2 Creating Missions

Missions help to project manage the field teams workload via the app. You can group together checkpoints by area or plan and assign to a mission.  Missions can also be left "Open" for anyone to complete, or you can assign it to a specific data collector.

  1. Highlight the points you want to group together as a mission.

  2. Click Mission in the bottom toolbar.

  3. Click Add Mission

  4. Create a name and select dates for your mission to be completed within

  5. Choose User:

    • No user assigned: Appears for all users to access.

    • Specific: Select a specific collector from the dropdown to assign the work to them. 

    • Note: The collector must have already created their Mozaic Earth account via their invite email for their name to appear here

  6. Click create mission

💡 Pro Tip: Use keyboard shortcuts to allow you to multiselect checkpoints to activate or add assignments. Ctrl + A (Select All), Ctrl + Drag (Area Select), or Ctrl + Click (Multi-Select). 

How to create missions

1.5.3 Final Checklist

  • Plan Activated: Points are live in the collection menu and app

  • Verified: utilise the filter option, select open collections to double check all checkpoints are active to ensure nothing has been missed

  • Users Onboarded: Collectors are added via User Management (Role: Collector).

  • Missions created (optional)
